Patient information Please note: We adhere to a zero-aggression, or "zero tolerance," policy, a clear workplace framework that unequivocally prohibits any form of violence, abuse, threats, or harassment directed at staff, visitors, or clients. This policy establishes a robust safety environment by clearly defining immediate responses to aggressive behaviour, including warnings, removal from the premises, and police involvement when necessary.

Clinic fees

Eora Clinic does not offer bulk billing, though you may be eligible for a contribution by Medicare. Payment must be made in full before or on the day of your appointment.

Consultation fees vary depending on the doctor and the type and duration of the appointment.

For more information about the fee schedule for your clinician, please consult our friendly reception staff.

Understanding Medicare

Medicare rebates are determined by the type of appointment and your status with the Medicare safety net. For psychiatrists, if you have not yet reached the safety net limit, you can expect to receive up to 70% of the cost covered by the Medicare rebate. However, once you surpass the Medicare safety net limit, you may receive 95% return on every appointment thereafter.

For paediatricians, the rebate varies based on the consultation type as follows:

Once a family reaches the annual threshold for gap payments, Medicare increases the benefit paid to 80% of the out-of-pocket cost for the rest of the calendar year.

In 2026, the Medicare safety net is set at $2,699.10 for singles and families within a calendar year. It’s important to highlight that Commonwealth concession card holders, including those with a pensioner concession card, a health care card, or a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, benefit from a significantly lower threshold of $861.20.

Couples and families must reach out to the Medicare to register their family members as part of a safety net-eligible family. By registering as a family, all eligible out-of-pocket costs for individual family members contribute toward the family’s Extended Medicare Safety Net (EMSN) threshold. It’s essential for couples and families to complete this registration, even if all members are listed on the Medicare card. Registration only needs to be done once, unless there are changes in family members, such as a student child transitioning out of full-time study or the arrival of a newborn baby.

Cancellation policy

If you need to cancel your appointment, we kindly ask that you reach out to our office as soon as possible. This way, we can offer your spot to patients and families on our waiting list who may need it.

If you provide us with more than four full working days’ notice, there’s no cancellation fee! However, if you cancel within that time frame, we do have to charge a 50% fee. The full consultation fee will apply if you fail to attend your appointment or cancel on the day of your appointment.

These cancellation fees are not eligible for a Medicare rebate.

Your first appointment

For psychiatry or paediatrics appointments, please bring:

Your first appointment will often be an extended one as your clinician gets to know you, your symptoms and how they are impacting your life, and your history. These initial consultations can go for up to two hours or sometimes even longer.

If you are a parent or caregiver attending with your child or teenager for their appointment, please be aware that sometimes the clinician will ask for conversation alone with the patient. This privacy can often give them the space to open up more freely about their concerns.

For younger clients living with parents/carers

We’re excited to welcome younger clients and their families to the initial appointment. Ideally, we invite the child or adolescent to join us along with as many family members as possible. If that’s not feasible, at least one parent or carer should attend. After our first meeting, we can determine if further follow-ups with the family or individual sessions will be beneficial.

For clients living independently

For independent, adult clients, the first consultation is typically with the patient alone. If there’s time and you wish to include your family members or spouse/partner, we’re more than happy to have them join the session.

Privacy and confidentiality

When you chat with your doctor, you can feel safe knowing that your conversations are confidential. The only time they might need to share your information is if there’s a risk to your life or someone else’s.

Sometimes, your clinician may suggest including family members in your assessment to get a fuller picture, but they’ll always talk to you about it first.

It’s also important to know that there are times when psychiatrists and paediatricians might be legally required to share certain information or medical records. If that happens, your psychiatrist or the paediatrician will make sure to let you know beforehand.

At Eora Clinic, we hold privacy as a cornerstone of our practice, ensuring that the information we gather is managed with the utmost care and respect. Our commitment to safeguarding your privacy aligns with the Privacy Act 1988 (C) (‘the Privacy Act’).
